Registered Counsellor & Psychometrist
Psychological support that considers the whole person.
Short-term therapy • Brain- & body-based interventions • Psychological assessments
Welcome
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving us uncertain about how to move forward. At other times, we may be looking for a better understanding of ourselves, our children or the challenges we are experiencing.
My practice offers short-term psychological counselling, brain- and body-based interventions, and psychometric assessments for children, adolescents and adults.
My approach is warm, practical and individualised. I believe that meaningful support begins with understanding the person behind the difficulty, taking into account their experiences, strengths, relationships and circumstances.
How I can help
Short-Term Therapy
Focused psychological counselling to help individuals navigate emotional difficulties, stress, anxiety, grief, trauma-related concerns, life transitions and other personal challenges. Sessions are guided by your individual needs and therapeutic goals.
Brain- & Body-Based Interventions
Our experiences can influence both our thoughts and our physical responses to stress. I offer BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT®) and Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) as approaches that may complement psychological counselling, where appropriate.
Psychological & Psychometric Assessments
Assessments can provide insight into an individual’s abilities, learning needs, interests and potential areas for support. Services include appropriate school-readiness, educational, subject-choice and career-related assessments, depending on the referral question and within my professional scope of practice.
My approach
I believe that there is no single approach that works for everyone.
For some people, talking through their experiences provides valuable insight and perspective. Others may benefit from focused interventions or an assessment to better understand their needs.
My aim is to work collaboratively with each individual to identify appropriate support and practical ways forward. Where necessary, I work in collaboration with or refer to other suitably qualified professionals.
About Marli
I am a Registered Counsellor and Psychometrist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
My professional experience spans private practice and specialised educational settings, including my previous work at Pioneer School and my current role as an Education Counsellor at Breedevalley School of Skills.
These experiences have shaped my interest in understanding people within the context of their development, relationships, learning experiences and environments. They have also reinforced the importance of recognising individual strengths and providing support that is relevant to each person’s circumstances.
Based in Paarl & Worcester, Western Cape
Private practice appointments are available in person in Paarl & Worcester, as well as online – subject to the suitability of the service and individual needs.
Whether you are seeking support for yourself or your child, exploring an assessment, or wanting to learn more about BWRT® or TRE®, you are welcome to get in touch.
